Healthy Lifestyle Facilitator

  • St Annes / Blackpool
    £18,000
    37.5 hours per week
    1 year fixed term

Fylde Coast YMCA are seeking a highly motivated people person to help with the delivery of the Y:Active Exercise on Prescription Scheme in Blackpool.

This is a varied role which will involve interacting with the public, motivating people to become physically active, delivering community based classes, leading walks and delivering healthy lifestyle consultations. Working across the Blackpool area the postholder will also take some responsibility for the monitoring and evaluation of adult physical activity programmes. Typical duties will include:

• To undertake client consultations and identify appropriate physical activity opportunities
• To provide health assessments to clients on adult referral programmes
• To work with local GP practices to promote the Y:Active Exercise on Prescription Programme and keep referring partners informed of scheme developments
• To develop a programme of community based walks and classes
• To use motivational interview techniques to maximise adherence rates
• To set up, deliver and take down mobile community classes
• Tracking and supplying monitoring and evaluation information for the formation of reports
• Assisting with the promotion of other related health and physical activity programmes

You should possess at least two years experience of working within the field of health and physical activity. Excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.

Physical Activity Support Officer

  • Based St Annes / Blackpool
    £14,500 pro rata
    18.5 hours per week
    12 month fixed term contract

Fylde Coast YMCA are seeking a highly motivated people person to help with the delivery of the Y:Active Exercise on Prescription programme in the Blackpool area.

The main focus of the role will involve supporting the ‘Y’ Active Team in the administration and delivery of health and physical activity programmes.

Typical responsibilities will include:

• Acting as a central contact point dealing with general enquiries surrounding the portfolio of physical activity programmes either face to face or via telephone
• Promoting the benefits of physical activity and using basic health screening techniques to assign activity
• Tracking and supplying monitoring and evaluation information for the formation of reports
• Mapping and keeping an up to date record of physical activity opportunities across the Blackpool area
• Encouraging adherence rates by providing ongoing support and encouragement to participants

You should possess at least one year experience of working within an office environment and should have the ability to work effectively as part of a team across different programmes. Excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.

Working across the Blackpool area the postholder will also take some responsibility for the monitoring and evaluation of adult physical activity programmes. Typical duties include:

• To undertake client consultations and identify appropriate physical activity opportunities
• To provide health assessments to clients on adult referral programmes
• To work with local GP practices to promote the ‘Y’ Active Referral Programme and keep referring partners informed of scheme developments

• Explore innovative, new ways of delivering on the adult physical activity agenda
• Tracking and supplying monitoring and evaluation information for the formation of reports

Positions at YMCA St Annes Swimming Pool

YMCA St Annes Swimming Pool is about to re-open.

It's an exciting time and we have amazing opportunities for the right individuals to join our team of staff to operate this fantastic facility.

Duty Manager - (FULL-TIME)
- £7.57 per hour / 37.5 hours per week

Applicants must have a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or equivalent, a pool plant operators certificate, a leisure management qualification and be able to work well as part of a team and on there own. A First Aid qualification and experience of managing people is also desirable.

Employment will be 37.5 hours, full time, which includes weekend and evening hours.

Head Lifeguard (FULL-TIME)
- £6.24 per hour / 37.5 hours per week

Applicants must have a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or equivalent, a pool plant operators certificate and be able to work well as part of a team and on there own. A First Aid qualification and experience of managing people is also desirable.

Employment will be 37.5 hours, full time, which includes weekend and evening hours.

Lifeguards (FULL-TIME and PART TIME)
- £5.80 per hour / 37.5 hours per week

Applicants must have a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or equivalent and be able to work well as part of a team and on there own. A First Aid qualification is also desirable.

Full time employment will be 37.5 hours, full time, which includes weekend and evening hours. Part time work is also available evenings and weekends.

Swimming Teachers (PART TIME)
- Level 1 £8.08 per hour, Level 2 £12.00 per hour

All applicants must have a recognised Swimming Teaching qualification with evidence of Continual Professional Development, a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or equivalent and be able demonstrate their ability to teach children and adults to swim. A First Aid at Work qualification is also desirable.

Employment will be on a part time basis which includes evenings and Saturday Mornings. Hours available are Monday to Friday 4.00pm to 6.00pm, Saturday 9.00am to 12 noon and Wednesday 2.00pm to 3.00pm (pre school lessons). A proportion or combination within these hours may be available.

Employment will be on a part time basis 17 hours a week during school term time. Hours available are Monday to Friday 9.00am to 12noon Tuesday and Thursday 2.00pm to 3.00pm. (These hours are subject to on going negotiations with the local schools.)

School Swimming Teacher (PART TIME)
- £12.76 per hour / 17 hours a week

All applicants must have a recognised ASA Level 2 Swimming Teaching qualification or equivalent with evidence of Continual Professional Development, a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or equivalent and be able demonstrate their ability to teach school children to swim. A First Aid at Work qualification is also desirable.

Employment will be on a part time basis 17 hours a week during school term time. Hours available are Monday to Friday 9.00am to 12noon Tuesday and Thursday 2.00pm to 3.00pm. (these hours are subject to on going negotiations with the local schools.)
