Swimming Teacher

This is for evening and weekend swimming teaching hours covering a Monday, Wednesday Friday evening and a Sunday morning. Suitable applicants may apply for all or a specific day.

You will deliver swimming lessons in accordance with the YMCA programme and the ASA National Plan, enabling all individuals to participate and progress. To be successful in this role you should adhere at all times to standards of personal and professional behaviour which reflect a positive image of the YMCA.

You should have experience in delivering swimming lessons and hold an ASA Swimming Teachers Certificate Level 1/2 (current).

Les Mills Body Combat Group Instructor-To Hold a Les Mills Body Combat relevant qualification. To have previous experience of teaching the above discipline in a busy fitness environment & to work within the ethos of the YMCA Thornton.

The main duties will include: ~

  1. Deliver a high standard, quality service in the above discipline.
  2. Ensure professional standards are maintained and developed.
  3. Educate and instruct customers on correct technique and proper form.
  4. Support members in achieving their fitness goals.
  5. To ensure Les Mills qualifications remain up to date and materials used are approved by your registered qualification.
  6. To ensure the health and safety of all members and participants.

National Citizen Service (NCS) Summer 2017 – Job Vacancies

YMCA Fylde Coast are looking for enthusiastic, self motivated individuals to work on the NCS programme during June, July, August and September 2017 – as Team Leaders or Assistant Team Leaders.

National Citizen Service – NCS – is a government funded programme and part of the Big Society Initiative.  NCS is a national programme which YMCA Fylde Coast has delivered along the Fylde Coast and North Lancashire since 2012.  NCS is open to all young people in Years 11 and 12 (or age equivalent) and staff will work with socially mixed teams of up to 14.

The NCS Team Leaders/Assistant Team Leaders are required to lead and motivate the teams through this exciting summer programme. The programme, which runs for four weeks combines physical and mental challenges and culminates in a community project.  Week one and two are residential and staff  will be required to stay away from home during this period (leaders weeks 1&2, assistants week 2 only and not including weekends).  The third and final week are non-residential and will be based in the team’s local area, where they will work to create and deliver a social action project to benefit their community. Each young person who completes the programme will graduate. Staff will be required to commit to attending the NCS graduation in September (this will be either a Saturday or Sunday).

YMCA Fylde Coast will operate up to 32 teams of young people over a period of 6 waves/start dates over the summer.

Lifeguards

Meets National Minimum Wage Requirements

You will maintain vigilant supervision of the swimming pools to ensure customer safety at all times, preventing accidents and incidents and taking appropriate action in the event of these occurring. You will undertake everyday cleaning tasks to ensure the centre is well presented at all times. Maintaining high levels of customer service is vital for this role. To be successful in making it into our Bank of staff you must be NPLQ qualified.

Centre Workers

Meets National Wage Living Requirements

You will assist with the daily operations involved in running a leisure centre, you will be responsible for setting up, dismantling and maintaining equipment, ensuring that our customers are satisfied with the services we provide. You will  make sure that all areas of the facility are kept clean and tidy, staff the reception desk when required and assist the duty manager when needed. Applicants must be 18 and over due to potential bar work.

Childcare Workers

Meets National Minimum Wage Requirements

You will provide a safe and stimulating environment for the children that use our Crèche and Play facilities. You will establish learning opportunities for the service users, encouraging the physical, intellectual and spiritual development of each child. Candidates must have a level 2/3 childcare qualification for this position.

Family/Young People Support Worker

Meets National Minimum Wage Requirements

You will  be responsible for providing housing related support to service users within Fylde Coast YMCA  Housing Projects, providing effective support around sustaining tenancy and independent living. You should be educated to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent. CVs will be accepted in the initial instance, if you are successful in making it to the next stages you will be required to fill in an application form.

Fitness Bank Staff (YMCA Poulton/YMCA Thornton)

Meets National Minimum Wage Requirements

You will be responsible for delivering a high standard of service within our new state of the art fitness suites. You will be customer focused and possess excellent organisational & communication skills with the ability to work in a team as well as on your own. To be successful in making it onto our Bank of Fitness Staff, you should be educated to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent and have previous experience in a fitness environment.

Volunteering opportunities – Get Involved!

Funpod Foxes

We are currently looking for volunteers for assist with the running of the Funpod Foxes sessions.

The sessions are multi sports in nature and are for children(8+) and adults with a disability.

The group meets weekly Sundays at St Annes YMCA between 2-4pm.

We are  looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the running of the group, preferably with some experience in this field.

Fylde Sharks

We are also currently looking for volunteers to assist us with the running of the Fylde Sharks disability swimming sessions. Volunteering opportunities exist in areas ranging from administration duties to swimming assistants.

In addition, the team are in need of ASA qualified swimming teachers

The sessions offer one-to one swimming lessons to disabled children and young people up to 18 years of age.

Tommy’s Youth Club – Boxing Club

Do you have experience in boxing? Do you want to get involved in boxing? Do you want to help young people through a diversionary activity? Tommy’s Youth Club based at YMCA Lofthouse in Fleetwood are looking for volunteers to assist in the running and organisation of their Boxing Club. The club has just won the North West Junior Boxing Club of the year. We are looking for volunteers who want to assist in taking the club to the next level and become part of something special.
